New Zealand’s fastest growing real estate brand has welcomed dozens of new salespeople in the last few months, all eager to maximize their businesses by working with a company that wants to put the tools directly in their hands to succeed.
Positivity from the agent combined with a digital format which allows them to undertake the key facets of listing and marketing homes in a more expedient way themselves - rather than being caught up in longer office processes - has been the undeniable pull for many to join Arizto.
And you won’t find many more positive than Dino Patel, the most recent addition to the team on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast, around half-an-hour’s drive north of Auckland.
A certified instructor with F45 Training (because a fit and agile mind can come from a fit and agile body), Patel is a self-motivated go getter and is finding that the independence which comes from being an Arizto agent, compared to traditional real estate office brands, suits his picturesque part of the country.
“Right now, I’m at Manly Beach, looking at this beautiful boat that’s parked up, rocking from side to side, and I’ve got my emails in front of me, I have my first enquiry come through for one of my listings, and I don’t need anything,” he says on the phone.
“I’ve got data, battery on the phone, the comfort of my car – and I can do real estate.”
Having been part of a successful team under a lead agent’s personal banner with his previous brand, making 23 deals in just over a year-and-a-half, Patel is enjoying finally taking the lead with his solo listings in the beachfront community of Stanmore Bay.
Arizto’s App and Dashboard technology allows him to be hands-on with any adjustments to the marketing personally while keeping his buyer’s information close to hand.
“I’m so use to multiple platforms when with Harcourts and Bayleys.
“We had multiple systems to create world class customer experience – you have a system for open homes, a system for CRM, a system for emails, a system for putting in documents.
“All these different things, and then when I jumped with Arizto, it was just one portal and that’s it.
“I was like, ‘I don’t need to do anything else? Have I missed something?’ But it’s already done.
“Plus every system had a subscription fee, so that was out the gate [for overheads], but with Arizto there’s no fee.
“It’s just one App that runs its all. So I’ve noticed a lot of people trying to jump on the bandwagon.
“With Arizto, what they’ve done, is they’ve cut all the fluff out and kept it really clean.”
Patel walked a lot of different paths to find his way to the green brand.
A first-generation Kiwi to Indian-Fijian parents, and the eldest of four siblings, he grew up in South Auckland around Waiuku and Papatoetoe.
His school interests took in design and architecture, before looking to start a career in primary school teaching.
However, with university bills piling up, Patel pivoted into council work in customer service and account management.
“The biggest industry I stayed in, over 15 years, was logistics, and that was [working with] NZ Post – small parcels, then international, then went into long haul, which was road, rail and sea long haul, and I had key accounts all over New Zealand.
“That was very rewarding financially, but like the old saying it was a ‘logistical nightmare’, and that was an everyday occurrence.
“You’re always out there fighting fires, and that would be from 6am to 9pm, six days a week, but you’re only paid for five.
“Logistics finished when Covid hit, killed that industry big time, gave everyone redundancy.”
Renovating his second home on the Hibiscus Coast at the time with his wife and two children, Patel got a role as a production manager in a construction company through a friend in the industry, before the family took off to Australia for a few months.
“That’s how the real estate started to happen – you’re dealing with homes, vendors, people doing things to get the house on the market and trying to add value.
“I said to my wife, ‘if we come back [to New Zealand], I’m going to give real estate a crack’, because we sold our house, and we had a bit of a nest egg.”
Patel had also found a niche as an F45 trainer, which increased his contacts in the industry.
“There were a lot of agents in the studio, and as soon as they found out I was studying, they reached out and said ‘you gotta join this branch, gotta join this brand’.”
He initially joined Bayleys, hoping his youth could be a point of difference for certain home owners in an office full of much older salespeople, but after a short time was offered the chance to join Harcourts under the very highly regarded Anita Dobson – a top agent in the Rodney District.
While Patel enjoyed the team environment, wanting to learn all he could from Dobson before considering going solo with the brand, tough conditions in an Auckland market which had slipped back from its Covid peak had him questioning if there was a better way to deliver good service that could both help his vendors and improve his fortunes.
“Arizto’s Sandy [Naimpalli – Business Development Manager] reached out, told me all about the good stuff at Arizto, and I found it too good to be true.
“Then we started working some numbers, and the earning potential with Arizto was just out the gate, so that planted the seed.
“Other brands started reaching out, offering their share of the pie, and I was like, ‘none of you are near what Arizto is offering’.
“The marketing package they offered was really attractive, and nobody could match it.
“I thought, ‘if I’m starting on my own, I need to start from the bottom and work my way up’.”
Having worked in two offices, Patel found disheartening the traditional method of having to hand off paperwork for his listings to office staff to process in their own time, and then having those extra admin fees deducted from his commissions.
Likewise, those deductions subsidised the cost of time-consuming brand events, where he felt discomfort as certain top agents publically trumpeted their personal successes from sales in a way which could annoy their vendors - particularly those doing it tough when personal circumstances compelled them to have to sell their homes for less than they paid for them due to Auckland’s market downturn.
“[At Arizto] you don’t have that unnecessary distraction and I think they respect the vendors more by not doing that.
“It’s just old school, classic – ‘we’re here to sell your house, let’s get it done, and this is the cleanest, smartest way to do it’, and they’ve hit the nail on the head with it.
“When you work in those office environments, it feels like everyone’s covering their cards and don’t want to show other people what they’re doing.
“You might have some good banter, but when it comes to actual work, you don’t see people really sharing, because people are in competition with each other.”
After he made the decision to switch, Patel has embraced Arizto’s technology and most importantly, working remotely away from an office, along with the straightforward access to the company’s online training programmes to master its unique system.
“[Working solo] you just have to take more ownership of your work. Be more active in the market, do your homework, and know what’s happening in the market.
“When I signed up with real estate, the biggest thing I didn’t want to do is paper documents, but with any business they say ‘choose a laptop’.
“I chose not to, I invested in an Ipad Pro, so I can do deals electronically in front of the vendor that can sign digitally with a [electronic] pen.
“What I’ve found is if I need a bit of a [training] refresher, I can just go onto the video tutorials and just rerun it, nice and short and sweet - it captures what I need to capture.
“It’s very easy to find, broken down into the right categories, I personally found it very easy to use.”
Patel acknowledges Onboarding Specialist Andrew Hunt for helping get him plugged into the system, as well as Social Media Content Creator Fin Barrett for the marketing tiles and information he adds to his online channels to let everyone know about the big switch.
Whether coming out of a gym session, prospecting potential clients in his region or chatting with buyers at his open homes, Patel just marvels that Arizto gives him what he needs with one platform, one click.
“It’s all in front of you, it’s all easy.”
