Arizto offers more for less
It all began with a couple of renegades from Northland who set out eight years ago to revolutionise customary real estate trading procedures and save New Zealanders money.
Read moreKim Balcombe never planned to be a real estate agent. She needed a job in Rangiora, applied for everything going, and landed a role as a branch administrator at a traditional agency. But it did not take long for the spark to catch. Working behind the scenes, watching deals come together and clients walk away happy, Kim quickly knew she wanted to be on the other side of the desk.
She sat her licence while still in the admin role, progressed to sales associate, and eventually made the leap to going out on her own. Two months at her previous company as a salesperson was all it took to realise the grass really was greener at Arizto.
“I never imagined in a million years that I would be as successful as I have proven to myself. I never really knew my worth until starting my career with Arizto.”
The difference, Kim says, is everything. At Arizto, she found something rare in real estate: a genuine team culture. “We all look out for each other. I often refer listings to other agents, expecting nothing in return, and then agents do the same for me. This is something that would never happen at my previous company.”
That sense of collaboration has given Kim the confidence to back herself fully. Her approach is refreshingly honest. “At Arizto, you can just be real. You don’t have to go into sales mode, because clients already trust you.” In an industry where posturing can be the norm, Kim’s directness is her greatest asset.
For sellers, her advice is simple and stress-free. “Less is best. Declutter as much as possible and trust the process.” Kim sees her role as relieving the pressure that comes with such a significant transaction, not adding to it.
One of Kim’s most memorable moments captures exactly why she does what she does. She was working with a client where one of the vendors had cancer, and they needed to sell their home to release funds to buy into a business. After just one open home, an offer came in and was accepted at a level the vendors had never dreamed of. “I was so excited for them that I was shaking when I presented. My vendors were absolutely over the moon.”
Kim is the first to challenge the perception that all real estate agents are the same. “One bad agent does not make us all bad agents,” she says firmly. Her focus is on building genuine relationships, and she finds that nine times out of ten, by the end of a transaction, her clients have become friends.
Based in North Canterbury, Kim works in a region she describes simply as a great place to live. “You can’t beat it, really.” It is a sentiment shared by a growing number of buyers discovering the appeal of the area.
Ask Kim about hobbies outside of real estate and she will give you an honest laugh. “Real estate is currently my life, but that is something I am working on. More downtime is needed.” It is the kind of self-awareness that speaks to her dedication and her drive.
And if she could list a property for any celebrity? “Matt Rife,” she says without hesitation. “Oh my goodness, how fun would that be!”
Kim Balcombe is proof that authenticity wins in real estate. She is honest, hardworking and fiercely proud of what she has built with Arizto. As she puts it herself: “I love Arizto and everything we stand for. I am so proud of how far I have come in my career and super proud to represent such an outstanding company.”
