Arizto offers more for less
It all began with a couple of renegades from Northland who set out eight years ago to revolutionise customary real estate trading procedures and save New Zealanders money.
Read moreMilly Pivac spent 20 years as a teacher, including eight years in Singapore. When she relocated back to New Zealand, she was looking for a fresh start and believed a move from teaching to real estate would allow her to make the most of her skills: organisation, systems, and a natural ability to develop positive relationships across ages and cultures.
That instinct proved right. The qualities that made Milly an outstanding teacher are the same ones that make her an outstanding agent. She is structured, thorough and deeply committed to communication. “You will get sick of hearing from me,” she tells her clients, “but that is what makes me good at what I do.”
At Arizto, Milly found a system that gives her the full picture of the listing and sale process, with the ability to react to situations immediately through the agent dashboard. “Arizto puts their agents first and are focused on how to make our job easier by putting in place systems and support.” She appreciates the training and mentoring her earlier career in traditional real estate provided, but can now see there is a better way of supporting clients on their property journey.
The Arizto model allows Milly to work with confidence. Leading up to a listing, vendors are provided with information that helps them understand the sale process and see where their house sits in the market. Buyers receive the same level of detail, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of a property before making an offer. “We are all time-poor, and the efficiency of the Arizto way allows us all to achieve success.”
Milly believes that transparency and communication are what everyone involved in a property transaction values most. Picking up the phone or visiting in person is high on her priority list. It is an approach that reflects her teaching background, where personal connection always came first.
When Milly first started in the industry, people told her she would never survive because she was not a shark, not tough enough. She has proven that preconception wrong. “There are plenty of us, including me, who work with honesty and focus to achieve great outcomes for our clients. I love my job and the part I play in helping people move on to their next step in life.”
Her advice to sellers is hands-on and supportive. Preparing a home is essential because first impressions count. “I help my sellers make decisions about what to fix, what to remove and where to find the person who can help with window cleaning, gardening and everything else. The more effort we put in at this stage, the better reward we have of buyers viewing their home.”
One of the biggest lessons Milly has learned is that life can throw curveballs. There are times when people are dealing with a major life-changing event alongside selling their home. “My sellers have taught me how to face challenges and move on with a positive attitude.”
Milly works across Palmerston North and the wider Manawatu, a region she has known all her life. She sees people moving from first homes to larger homes or lifestyle blocks, all while keeping their children at the same school, attending the same activities and maintaining friendships. “Palmerston North and the Manawatu are central. We are only two or three hours’ drive from a great weekend away at the beach, the lake, wineries or a city escape.”
She has also noticed how organised today’s first home buyers have become. “When they make an offer, they have already got pre-approval, they know who their lawyer is and they know what conditions they want. Buyers are now educated.” It is a shift that benefits everyone and ensures a more efficient process.
For Milly, every sale makes a difference. “No matter the value of a home, the value is in the result for my sellers and seeing them move on.”
Outside of real estate, Milly loves spending time with family and friends. You will often find people gathered around her dinner table enjoying an impromptu meal. She is passionate about live theatre and tries to attend every Centrepoint show in Palmerston North. And she loves her daily walks with Bindi, her dog. A knee injury has slowed her recently, but she is working hard to recover and get back to posting a daily Instagram photo of Bindi at the river with the temperature every morning.
