Arizto offers more for less
It all began with a couple of renegades from Northland who set out eight years ago to revolutionise customary real estate trading procedures and save New Zealanders money.
Read moreReal estate has always been part of Morgan Cathro’s world. She is a second-generation real estate salesperson, with her father having his own real estate business in Canada. Before moving into sales herself, Morgan spent years on the legal side of the industry, working as a paralegal in Canada and later as a legal secretary and legal executive in New Zealand. That legal foundation gave her a deep understanding of the technical and contractual side of property transactions that most agents simply do not have.
At Arizto, Morgan found something unexpected: a genuine team. “Even without a physical office, I have never felt more part of a genuine team than I do at Arizto. The leadership team supports and values the entire sales force, not just the top 1%, and they recognise that each of us has different goals and our own version of what success looks like.”
If she could give advice to her younger self, Morgan would say spend more time doing the scary things. “Picking up the phone and door knocking rather than relying on expensive marketing and hoping it would bring people to me. Marketing still has its place, but the real growth comes from those direct conversations.”
Morgan is candid about the power of Arizto’s flat-fee model. “In all honesty, it often gets me in the door with clients who might not have otherwise reached out. From there, I am able to show them the value we offer and prove that we deliver great results while they keep more of their hard-earned money.”
She has seen the shift firsthand. Before joining Arizto, Morgan lost three appraisals to them in a single week. When she followed up with the homeowners, their response was simple: Arizto offered the exact same service for a lower cost, so why would they pay more? “That was a pretty clear sign.”
For Morgan, trust is the foundation of everything. “If they trust me, trust that I have their best interests at heart and trust that I will do my absolute best for them, we can get through anything together. The ups and downs, the straightforward sales, the tough negotiations, the collapsed deals and the market shifts. That trust is what makes the whole process work.”
She is keen to bust the myth that agents do not work hard. “The visible part is the smallest part. Most of the job is the calls, the follow-ups, the strategy, the negotiations and keeping everything on track so our clients can have a stress-free experience.”
Her advice to sellers is personal rather than procedural: choose a salesperson you truly trust. “Someone who will have your back, make you a priority, give 100% and genuinely care about you and your property, not just the sale.”
Morgan works across two very distinct areas: Rolleston and Christchurch, which are vibrant and fast-growing, and Diamond Harbour, which she describes as a hidden gem. “A peaceful coastal lifestyle with breathtaking sea views, a slower pace and nature quite literally on your doorstep.” That contrast is something she loves about her work.
One sale that will always stay with Morgan was for an elderly vendor who had no family in New Zealand and a very limited budget to prepare her home for market. She was one of the loveliest people Morgan had ever met, but she simply did not have the support around her to get everything done. “For two weeks, I spent every spare moment helping her organise, pack, clean and take care of gardening, even bringing my own lawn mower in the back of my car. She called me her guardian angel, but to me it was just about making sure she felt supported and stress-free. That is the part of my job that matters most to me.”
Outside of real estate, Morgan has a life that defies expectations. She is an author who writes dark romance under a pen name. She is also an avid motorcyclist and a pilot. When time allows, she enjoys getting in the air or out on two wheels, and otherwise loves spending as much time as possible with her two young children.
If she could list a property for any celebrity? “Sandra Bullock, Gerard Butler or Karl Urban. Ideally all three. They are some of my favourite actors. Do I need a better reason than that?”
Morgan Cathro brings legal expertise, genuine heart and an unconventional spirit to everything she does. In a market where trust, service and going the extra mile matter more than ever, she is the agent who shows up with a lawn mower in her boot and never stops until the job is done.
